Battle Reenactment on Lexington Green

April 19, 2025 @ 5:00 am - 6:30 am
Every year, a Battle Reenactment on Lexington Green takes place at the exact time on the exact site the historic event occurred 250 years ago.
On the night of April 18, 1775, over 700 British soldiers left from Boston to Concord to destroy a store of ammunition and other supplies. They anticipated war.
As dawn approached on the fateful morning of April 19, the town militia of Lexington stood anxiously in their way. The two groups squared off on the town common, a single, mysterious shot rang out and the British soldiers opened fire. When the smoke cleared, eight Americans lay dead, another 10 were wounded and a war for independence had begun.
Each year, the Town of Lexington and a dedicated corps of reenactors recreates this event. This year, the event will take place on Saturday, April 19th, at 5:00 a.m., the exact anniversary of the battle.

Lexington Battle Green

Battle Reenactment Visitor Tips

The Battle Reenactment starts very early in the morning, with the militia mustering at 5:00 a.m.
The bell in the Belfry rings at 5:30 a.m.
The Battle Reenactment then follows at 6 a.m., the time the actual battle happened.
The crowd around the Green can be several people deep. Plan to arrive early, at least between 3:30  and 4:00 a.m. to pick a viewing spot. Also remember that ladders and stepstools are not allowed on the Green.
Please see the Town of Lexington website (click here) for other restrictions.

The Battle Reenactment will be followed by the annual 5-mile run and the afternoon parade as usual. However, all of these events will occur on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

Patriots’ Day 2025 extends beyond a single day. The celebration started in April 2024 when the Lex250 Commission kicked off a 365-day countdown. The historic commemoration will continue through 2025 and into 2026 as the Commonwealth and the nation celebrate their own semiquincentennial. Learn more about MA250.
