Portraits of Patriots: Colonel John Trumbull and Five Fellow Patriots From Connecticut in the American Revolution

February 19 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us at the Museum to learn about the Revolutionary War activities of the connected Trumbull and Huntington families.

Damien Cregeau will present material from this new book, Portraits of Patriots: Colonel John Trumbull and Five Fellow Patriots From Connecticut in the American Revolution. The book tells the fascinating stories of the famous artist as he not only struggles to become an artist but also fights in combat as an aide de camp. It also illustrates his talented but troubled sister, Faith Trumbull Huntington, her husband, General Jedediah Huntington, his brother, Colonel Ebenezer Huntington, and Samuel Webb of Wethersfield, who served as an aide de camp to Generals Putnam and Washington, fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill and eventually held the Bible at Washington’s Presidential Inauguration in 1789.

Damien Cregeau, M.A., History, grew up in Fairfield and Litchfield Counties before he and his wife bought a home from 1765 by the Cove in Wethersfield. They also own the General Jedediah Huntington House, 1765, in Norwich. Damien is a nationally recognized scholar of the American Revolution, having spoken throughout the northeast since 2007, including on C-SPAN and several national podcasts and radio shows.
