This program is presented by the National Park Service and Boston Harbor Now as a part of a three-part Revolutionary Harbor lecture series.

Boston Harbor and the Battle of Bunker Hill

In the aftermath of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill’s strategic location along on a small peninsula of land at the convergence of the Charles River, the Mystic River and Boston Harbor, and its proximity to Boston, drew the attention of the British forces who occupied Boston.

As we approach the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill, we invite you to join National Park Service ranger Savannah Rose as she explores how Boston Harbor helped to shape the Battle of Bunker Hill.

About Boston Harbor Islands Park

Thirty-four unique islands and peninsulas make up the Boston Harbor Islands.

Visitors can explore a historic fort, enjoy a picnic with sweeping harbor views or sleep in a rustic campsite beneath the stars.

Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park is the largest recreational space in Eastern Massachusetts. It attracts over half a million visitors annually. The park also functions as an important ecological habitat for local wildlife.
