Step into history at the Turning Point Symposium, where renowned authors and historians bring some of the most pivotal moments in American history to life.

Campaign for Saratoga 250 sponsors engaging presentations by esteemed experts on Molly Pitcher, Henry and Lucy Knox, and the Fall of Ticonderoga.

The event includes a Continental breakfast, deli lunch, and coffee, tea, and assorted beverages.

Attendees will:

  • Experience Revolutionary War history up close with the 2nd Continental Artillery display! See and learn more about an authentic replica cannon and related artillery inputs.

  • Connect with fellow history enthusiasts, expand their knowledge, and gain fresh insights into the battle that changed the course of America’s fight for independence.

Turning Point

The featured speakers for the Turning Point Symposium will include:

  • Bruce Venter on “The Fall of Fort Ticonderoga.” This pivotal event enabled Henry Knox to secure the cannons. Venter is president of America’s History LLC (AHLLC), a history tour and conference company headquartered in Goochland, Va. He is the author of the award-winning  book, “The Battle of Hubbardton: The Rear-Guard Action that Saved America.
  • Phillip Hamilton on Washington’s Artillerist: Henry Knox Commands the Continental Guns.” Hamilton is a professor of history at Christopher Newport University in Virginia and the author of the acclaimed book, “The Revolutionary War Lives and Letters of Lucy and Henry Knox.” He is currently working on a new biography of Henry Knox.
  • Matthew Keagle on “Henry Knox arriving at Fort George on Lake George.” Keagle is curator of collections at Fort Ticonderoga where he works at the forefront of collecting and interpreting the conflicts that shaped the 18th century.
  • Michele Gabrielson onAmerican Calliope: The Writings of Mercy Otis Warren and Her Friendship with Henry Knox.”  Gabrielson is a history teacher and historic interpreter of the 18th century at historic sites in the greater Boston area.  She specializes in interpreting Mercy Otis Warren.
  • Mark Edward Lender on “The Woman at the Gun Reconsidered: Molly Pitcher’s Legendary Performance at Monmouth.” Lender is Professor Emeritus of History at Kean University and has written or co-written 11 books.
