Join Town Historian Tim Cranston for a walk through history in Wickford. Learn of the people and places of North Kingstown that played a role in the American Revolution.
We don’t usually think of the Revolution happening in Wickford, but it did! British soldiers were stationed across the Bay in Newport. The area teemed with with supporters of both sides – the crown and colonial independence. This made for interesting times! The tour will walk by several homes owned by Patriots and Tories, and Tim will share many interesting, true stories of courage, bravery and rebellion.
The walking tour starts at Town Wharf at the end of Main Street and will cover approximately one mile in 90 minutes. Please plan to be outdoors (e.g. wear sturdy, comfortable shoes, apply sunscreen, have water, etc.). Please, no dogs/pets. The event will occur unless there are heavy rains. You will be contacted via your registration email to [email protected] if the event is cancelled due to weather.
