What an experience the Deep Sea Cocktail Lounge must have been back in the day. It was part of the Crown Hotel in downtown Providence, R.I.  The postcard, from the Boston Public Library’s fabulous collection, dates between 1930 and 1945.

Advertisements for the Crown Hotel in The Rotarian featured the unusual themed drinking establishment. “Home of the Famous Deep Sea Lounge and Beachcomber,’ reads one ad in a 1946 edition of the magazine. The hotel had 200 rooms — perfect for a Rotary convention! — and charged ‘$3.50 and up’ for rooms.

Wonder how much a cocktail would cost.
